During the second half of the year, the Southern Right Whales make their frequent appearance along this coastline, and these enthral guests with their playful antics.

Children are welcome at the Mosselberg on Grotto Guesthouse. Sleeper couches are made available in the bedrooms for little ones, making this the ideal family getaway.

The guesthouse enjoys the facility of a sizeable heated outdoor swimming pool and a deck facing the sea. Each suite has a bar fridge, coffee kitchenette, television (with satellite), safe, fans, heated floors, en-suite bathroom, twin basins and heated towel rails. Guests can opt for a king-sized bed or for two single beds. The Honeymoon Suite has particularly stunning views of the ocean, while each room enjoys vistas of the sea and mountains.

The wine cellar is an added extra that sets Mosselberg on Grotto apart. It is brimming with delicious Walker Bay vintages. The Western Cape is known worldwide for its superior wines and beautiful wine farms. Be a part of this heritage at Mosselberg on Grotto.  Rooms are serviced daily. Secure off-street parking, cots for babies, beach towels and umbrellas are available to guests at no extra cost.

Continental Breakfasts and English Breakfasts are served between 08h30 and 10h00 every day. These may be savoured on the deck around the swimming pool or on the veranda. This is the ideal way to start the day. Dietary requirements are accommodated and the menu boasts vegetarian and vegan options. Lunch and dinner is also available and is made using only the freshest ingredients. The chef will prepare meals on request for guests with time limitations.

The fascinating plant- and animal life in this region include Fynbos (a unique plant species endemic to South Africa), the Cape Sugarbird, olives in the Hemel en Aarde ("Heaven and Earth") Valley and the Pinotage grape, which is responsible for some of the country's finest red wines.

In addition, guests are advised to tour some of the local wine farms, visit the beer brewery, SCUBA dive or encounter the massive sharks from a protective cage lowered into the water.

Get onto the N2 highway from Cape Town and head towards Somerset West. Pass Somerset West and continue up the beautiful Sir Lowry's Pass and Houw Hoek Pass. Upon descent and immediately after a hair-pin turn, there are signs for the Hermanus turn-off, the R43. Go left, crossing over the N2 on a flyover. Continue along this road for 24km, which will place you in Hermanus itself. At a traffic light, you will be forced to turn left. Continue for another 3.5km, continue straight over the large roundabout and continue towards Stanford for 2km. Turn right into 13th Avenue. At the stop sign, turn left into 10th Street, and the guesthouse will appear on your right.
