Summerfields Rose Retreat & Spa is nestled along Sabie Road in the beautiful South African province of Mpumalanga. Charm, romance, style and luxury converge in this exquisite tented lodge.
Summerfields enjoys stunning surrounds as it resides peacefully in a private valley near Hazyview. It includes a welcoming lodge, a revitalising spa on the river banks and a restaurant set in the intriguing rose farm. The farm stretches for 100 hectares and is known for its roses and macadamia nuts.
It is also within fairly close proximity to the globally-renowned Kruger National Park and the Gauteng regional airport.
Each of the 12 tented suites is nestled beneath the umbrella of Jackalberry and Tambotie trees. If visitors can tear themselves away from these gorgeous lodgings, there are game drives, walks and even treetop canopy tours available nearby.
Each tent is luxuriously furnished and ultimately welcoming. They boast private balconies with breath-taking views of the Sabie River and the lush surrounds. Suites are characterised by excellent quality, world-class service and the unmistakable aroma of fresh-cut roses.
Each tented suite is equipped with air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, double vanity, outdoor shower, an indoor bathtub, a private fridge, hairdryer, tea/coffee station, safe (big enough for a laptop) and iPods. On arrival, guests will receive home-backed biscuits and good quality toiletries.
The Summerfields Villa is a new addition to the exclusive accommodation on offer. The villa is elevated, showcasing the valley, vegetation and animals in a stunning array of colours, sounds and textures. The villa is private, allowing guests absolute serenity.
The villa has three bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of six guests (two king-size beds and two single beds). In addition, there is a private swimming pool and gym, two televisions with satellite, a DVD player and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity. A private butler, chef and personal therapist are on call for the guests' convenience and a dedicated vehicle and driver will be available to transport guests.
The Stone House is another new addition and is great for families or small groups as it sleeps six people in three bedrooms (one king-size bed, one double bed and two single bunk beds). The Stone House has been constructed and furnished using natural colours and textures to reflect its environment and is equipped with a television with satellite, DVD player and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity.
The spa is the perfect retreat for weary travellers with exhausted bodies and minds. The treatments and facilities are of the highest quality and include a rose quartz steam shower, aromatherapy, massages, facial treatments, manicures, pedicures, body wraps and body treatments. Coffee, tea and water are complimentary and alcoholic beverages, juice, cappuccinos and mineral water are available at a cost.
Summerfields offers a signature spa package. This starts with a steam pack shower and macadamia exfoliation, followed by a Vichy shower and a massage using rose oil. Guests planning to make a day of the spa are welcome to enjoy snacks and drinks on the deck around the pool between treatments.
For day visitors, our reservations personnel will assist with flight arrangements, as well as transfers between the spa and surrounding hotels.
Summerfields Kitchen brings fresh ingredients, South African flavours, and streaks of ingenuity together in one gourmet menu. The farm-style restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner to ensure that guests are pampered and cared for at all times. Alternatively, visitors are invited to relax on the deck and sip on a refreshing wine, beer or sundowner as Africa lazily slips into darkness.
The menu includes Prawn, Mango and Sunflower Seed Salad, Deli Platters of Homemade Pesto, Tapenades and Marinated Artichokes, Lamb Cutlets with Rosemary Potatoes, Crocodile Curry, Rump Steak with Parmesan Mash and Green Peppercorns Sauce, Pavlova with Chantilly Cream and a delicious Cheese Platter.
South Africa is known the world over for its fine wines. Our wine list boasts Rubicon, Rupert & Rothschild, Haute Cabriere, L'Ormarins, Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc and Gosset Grande Reserve.
Summerfields is a sophisticated yet comfortable venue, ideal for families, couples or colleagues.
The gorgeous River Café is set along the banks of the Sabie River, accessible only by a walk through the forest and over a quaint stone bridge. From this incredible venue, hippos can be spotted whilst diners enjoy a tasty breakfast, light lunch or hearty dinner. Dinners are available only to guests of the lodge and by special arrangement and the dinner menu is set.
This delightful venue has also been used for weddings and can accommodate up to 40 people.
