One and Only Resort Cape Town is Cape Town's newest luxury hotel resort and spa, boasting a full seven stars! One&Only is Sol Kerzner's international luxury resort brand that will now be gracing the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa, in April 2009.
Sol Kerzner founded World Leisure Holidays, and was also the founder of the Southern Sun and Sun International Hotel Groups. Recently, this hotel legend also founded Kerzner International, a global hospitality and casino establishment. World Leisure Holidays is owned by Sun Resort Limited and comprises three completely different types of hotels:
For the ultimate in opulence, the elite One & Only Collection is tailor-made for the discerning guest craving perfection. Only the most beautiful landscapes are coupled with faultless service and an idyllic ambience. At this level of accommodation, the company runs the resorts under the One & Only brand, managing 9 resorts hotels in the Bahamas, Mauritius, Dubai, the Maldives and Mexico.
For a more affordable luxury option, Sun Resorts Limited caters for couples and families who still require elegance and comfort. Facilities offer superior amenities and each venue is distinct in character and charm.
The third option is Kerzner International's ultimate mega-resort, Atlantis. This resort is a fantastical playground in the Bahamas and offers entertainment and pleasure on the grandest scale imaginable.
Cape Town's new One and Only Resort Cape Town is being built at the popular V&A Waterfront, where views of the spectacular Table Mountain and the chilly Atlantic Ocean are plentiful. This One and Only Resort Cape Town is being developed by Kerzner International Group and is a 7-star facility, providing 131 luxury rooms and suites. In addition to the accommodation, world-class facilities will be available to guests.
This resort will place 40 of the suites on a private island at the centre of the waterfront. The remainder of the luxurious suites will be situated in the 8-storey Tower Marina. From here, the splendid Table Mountain and the historical Robben Island are clearly visible. In addition, three duplexes will also be included in this development. Each will be 800m2, have 2 storeys and 4 bedrooms. Articulated roofs will act to enhance the sense of space and light.
The One and Only Resort Cape Town will be responsible for the full servicing and maintenance of the apartments. Private elevators, large balconies and luxurious swimming pools come standard with each unit. These apartments will be perched on the top two floors of the resort's Tower Marina.
The décor and ambience of Cape Town's One and Only Hotel will be reminiscent of the African culture, while never negotiating on space, elegance and comfort.
The actual resort section will surround the 8-storey tower and each of the three islands will connect to the hotel by means of bridges. 40 rooms will be on the residence island, each of which is at least 60m2, and boasting private balconies.
For absolute extravagance, there will be 2 suites with their own en-suite spa treatment rooms, concierge and butler.
The One and Only Resort Cape Town's main swimming pool area will feature a 350m2 freeform, infinity-edge swimming pool. After a refreshing dip, guests may enjoy the private sitting area with double chaises recliners and sheltered trellis pavilions.
The One and Only Resort Cape Town will also offer the services of its own Health and Beauty Spa / Wellness Island. This spacious facility will extend for 1200m2 and will comprise 11 treatment villas. Included in these villas will be 2 suites with private 'wet areas' for singles' or couples' treatments, as well as 2 vitality pools, relaxation areas, sauna rooms, steam rooms, a hair salon and Bastien Gonzalez pedicure and manicure facilities.
The fitness centre at the One and Only Resort Cape Town stretches for 200m2, and provides modern fitness equipment from Technogym. Personalised workout programmes ensure that guests of Cape Town's One & Only Resort do not compromise on their fitness regimes. A Kinesis training room, complete with tri-dimensional pulley system training and studios for yoga, Pilates and tai chi will also assist in your goal towards fitness and health during your stay in South Africa.
Families are also welcome at the One and Only Resort Cape Town. The KidsOnly Club is designed for guests of 11 years and under, and all activities are fully supervised. The business centre is well-equipped and includes a meeting and banquet room measuring 260m2. This business centre accommodates up to 200 delegates for events and the boardroom seats 18.
The One and Only Resort Cape Town boasts three restaurants. World-acclaimed Japanese chef, Nobu Matsuhisa, will be responsible for the signature restaurant of this hotel, and the menu will be inspired by Japanese flavours and cuisine. However, the African essence will continue throughout the dishes and ambience. This restaurant, aptly names Nobu, will be the first Nobu in Africa. The second restaurant will offer Tapas-style dishes and will be more laid back in nature, and the third will allow diners to enjoy their meals under the warm African sun, next to the swimming pool.
The V&A Waterfront is set within Cape Town's original working harbour and has proven to be South Africa's most popular tourist attraction. It is also one of the world's most successful waterfront developments in terms of visitors and turnover. The V&A Waterfront is the departure point for ferry trips to Robben Island, the site of the prison in which former president Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for decades for political crimes.
The One and Only Resort Cape Town is set to cost R1 billion. Its founder, Sol Kerzner, has promised that this will be the development that sets the benchmark in luxury and technical advancement at this level of South African tourism. This exciting development is due to be complete by October 2009. The hotel will be crescent shaped in order to allow each room an uninterrupted view of the magnificent Table Mountain. All interior design are by Adam D Tihany, whose aim it is to blend African chic with a contemporary edge.
