Tours

Guided Tours: Oceana is home to an array of exotic wildlife, best known by the expert guides, who are available for guided tours through the reserve. Sharing the natural living environment with these animals enables guests to enjoy a truly African adventure and have valuable sightings of rare and exciting animals. These picture-perfect tours are either self-guided or exciting adventures in one of Oceana's safari vehicles with a personal guide.

Star Gazing

Africa is known for its high azure skies. At nightfall, these blacken and become permeated by sparkling stars. Visitors are invited to witness some of the wonders of our universe at Oceana, where telescopes and experienced guides will reveal some of the galaxies best-kept secrets.

Other activities available at the resort or nearby include scuba diving, surfing, whale watching, golfing and spa treatments.

Culture

South Africa is a land of diversity in terms of culture, origins and languages. Most ethnic South Africans are Zulu (21%), followed by Xhosas (17%) and the Sotho (15%). Smaller minorities include the Tswana, Venda, Ndebele, Swazi and Pedi, amongst others. The Eastern Cape of South Africa enjoys much of this diversity, and is characterised by its friendly residents.

Climate

The Eastern Cape climate is renowned for its ability to change dramatically from season to season. Hot summers along the coast have an average noonday high of approximately 30ºC and usually boast 7 hours of sunshine. Winters are normally around 7ºC - 15ºC. The northern parts of the Eastern Cape are considerably cooler than the coastal regions.

Directions to the Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve

The Oceana Lodge is situated 9km East of Port Alfred on the R72.

From East London:

Take the R72 towards Port Alfred for approximately 130 km and turn left at the Oceana sign. Follow the paved road, through the gate until reception is reached

From Port Elizabeth:

Follow the N2 and take the R72 exit through Alexandria, Kenton on Sea and Port Alfred. Turn right at the Ocean sign, approximately 9 km outside of Port Alfred. Follow the paved road, through the gate until reception is reached.
