This boma overlooks a sparkling pool made using natural stones. The accommodation facilities include 11 double chalets, each equipped with convenient creature comforts, such as air-conditioning and en-suite facilities.
The Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge is situated within the larger Intu Afrika Kalahari Private Game Reserve; 10 000 hectares of gorgeous wildlife sanctuary in the south-western corner of the Kalahari Desert. This reserve runs along some of the Auob river system, which originates from Namibia, and is distinguished from similar offerings by its red sand dunes that run parallel to one another. These are home to a small amount of vegetation that is unique to these dunes, making it a very special experience. Between these dunes are green plains inhabited by the iconic camelthorn tree. These lush areas are retreats for the animals requiring shelter and vegetation.
While staying at Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge, guests are urged to learn about predator reintroduction programmes and meet the bushman tracker, who conducts guided walks and provides enlightenment regarding the habits and history of the San, who were once indigenous to this area.
The unique appeal of the Kalahari has lured travellers from all over the world, only to remain in their hearts and minds forever.
The Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge, as well as the Intu Afrika Kalahari Game Reserve offer guests ample opportunities to explore the surrounds and encounter some of the fantastic attractions that make this area such an ideal destination. Hot summer days are well spent quadbiking, taking guided walks to get a taste of the age-old Bushmen traditions, or sipping on refreshing sundowners atop on of the sand dunes. The lodge is equipped with a refreshing swimming pool, as well as a restaurant, lounge and bar.
